LINA | Announcing LINA-0.72beta01

LINA-0.72beta01- Released March 15, 2008 - replaced by beta02 on March 17 2008

Note: The Windows uninstall bug has been fixed in Beta02, and Windows downloads are once again available.

LINA-0.72beta01 has been released and is available now.

After three months of solid effort, we are proud to announce the first beta of LINA-0.72. This release includes easy-to-install LINA binaries for most major operating systems. It also contains tools enabling developers to wrap Linux applications so that they can easily be installed and run with native look and feel on any operating system where LINA is installed.

A great deal of work has also been put into this release to make it Open Source friendly. We have built an automated, fully scalable system for testing LINA on a great number of platforms. This will enable us to release early and release often and it will make it much easier for outside developers to contribute. It will also enable us to rapidly expand the number of operating systems we support. We plan on making a release at least once every two weeks.

In that spirit, we are releasing this early. We are already aware of a few annoyances, and we would appreciate your help in finding more and bringing them to our attention. It would be of great help to us if you would let us know of any problems you encounter downloading and installing and running LINA and our first demo application installs.

We will use your feedback as we move toward our official release of LINA-0.72, fixing bugs and annoyances and adding applications as we go.

Instructions for downloading and installing LINA can be found in our wiki at http://openlina.org/wiki.

Thank you all very much for your interest in LINA and for your patience in waiting for this release!
