IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU UNINSTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF LINA BEFORE INSTALLING A NEW ONE!
LINA 1.00beta1 is available for the following Windows versions:
With LINA 1.00beta1, it is necessary that CYGWIN NOT be running during any part of the installation process. LINA has a dependency on openssh, which uses the CYGWIN dlls and only one CYGWIN dll can be active (loaded) at a time.
If this is the first LINA installation on your system you can proceed. If you have a previous installation of LINA it must be removed before you can proceed. See "Uninstalling LINA" for complete removal instructions.
Please note that when you reinstall LINA you also need to reinstall any applications that you downloaded for LINA. We will soon have a LINA backup service which will allow you to back up and restore your LINA applications and data when you install a new version of LINA or migrate to a new operating system.
If your version of Windows requires Administrator privileges to install software you will need them to install LINA. If you are running Vista, right-click on the installer icon and select "Run as administrator". Otherwise, just double-click on the installer icon. On Windows 2003 you must also uncheck the box that says "Run this program with restricted access".
Click through the installer windows accepting the default locations and responses.
The installer may appear to hang or freeze during various phases of the process. We will address the accuracy of the progress bars in the next release. The duration of the installation process varies with the speed, memory availability and internet connection speed of your system. On a higher-end system with a decent ethernet connection the LINA installation process takes less than five minutes.
You will see progress messages in the installer window and when you see the final screen - congratulations! LINA is installed and you are ready to install a LINA application.
